Riders Guide - Big Mountain Resort is a winter paradise Montana resort with a total of 12 lifts, comprising of 3 Surface Lifts, 1 Double Chair, 5 Triple Chairs, 1 Quad Chair and 2 Hi-speed Quads that take you up to 91 trails where you can snowboard on their longest run of 17,424 feet atop 335 inches of powder. Their trails are rated 20% for Beginners, 50% for Intermediates, 15% for Advanced, and a total of 15% for Experts, so you can certainly be assured of getting your fair share of thrills and spills.
Parks and Pipes - You're on Big Mountain so you want everything Big! The Fishbowl Terrain Park on Hope Slope gives you the opportunity to try your skills on really big gap jumps, rails, boxes, tabletops, hits, and berms. The 450 foot long superpipe and its 17 foot walls strictly for experts and neophytes need not apply. Both the park and pipe are lit up all evening long so you could theoretically snowboard for 14 hours nonstop.
Out of Bounds - Big Mountain Resort is the midst of one the greatest outdoor winter sports paradises in the country, the majestic and magnificent Montana wilderness. You can choose to play at fun activities such as rock and ice climbing, sledding, cross country skiing, hot air ballooning, ice skating, snowmobiling, jeeping and offroad driving, fishing, and horseback riding.
Hangout & Hookup - Dire Wolf is the place to go to hang out with all your boarder buddies. Right by the slopes you can get some of the best après ski action along with your big pile of nachos at The Hellroaring Saloon. Make sure that you buy a Hellroaring baseball cap so that you get your second beer free every time you wear it, which will make it pay for itself very quickly! While on the subject of free beer, The Bierstube will serve you free beer every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. during the presentation of the Clod of the Week Award to that week's biggest goofball. Make sure that you're just drinking the free beer and not receiving the award! Big Mountain must be getting a deal on its beer since on Mondays, Moguls Village Pub serves up free suds during Powder Hour and if you're still standing, you can enjoy their evening live music. It's not just Big Mountain but the whole state that must have a brewery connection since if the searchers all say you could make Whitefish... hey, you can check out the free tasting at the Great Northern Brewery. Don't forget to drop into famous Montana watering holes like The Great Northern Bar & Grille and The Palace Bar on Central Avenue. But you've got to get into some boot-stompin' good ol' country dancin' at The Blue Moon Nite Club in Columbia Falls. It's worth the drive!
The Deal - Big Mountain is 8 miles from Whitefish at the junction of Montana Hwys. 2 and 93. The nearest airport is Kalispell, 19 miles south of the resort, is served by Skywest/Delta Connections, Horizon, Northwest, Big Sky and American West airlines and you can catch a ride to Big Mountain on Flathead Glacier Transportation. You might want to consider flying into Calgary International to take in Banff's legendary big three resorts then take the four hour drive down to Big Mountain. Don't forget your passport!
