Maine may not be the first place one thinks of for a skiing trip. Fact is that the very same mountains that make Vermont a prized East-Coast ski destination provide world-class skiing for places like Sugarloaf Ski Resort and Sunday River in Maine as well – for a lot less money!

Maine has sixteen ski resorts and two tube parks. Saddleback, Sugarloaf and Sunday River all boast over 2000 feet of vertical drop. What makes Maine skiing so great is that it’s FUN!

Saddleback offers a terrain park and half-pipe for snowboarders, as well as ample beginner runs, intermediate runs, and black diamond slopes. Sugarloaf also has a terrain park and halfpipe, but offers up an impressive amount of beginner slopes, intermediate and almost sixty black-diamond runs over its 2820 vertical feet, and makes use of high-speed quad chairs to whisk skiers and riders to the top of the mountain.

Sunday River’s 2340 vertical feet also includes plenty of runs for beginners, intermediates and Black Diamond runners.
